Diana Deibel

Diana is a Brazilian-American writer and emerging leader in the voice technology field, where AI meets the oldest human "interface:" conversation. She currently works as a Lead Designer at the digital product design consultancy Grand Studio in Chicago, focused on leading their voice and future tech initiatives through the creation of multichannel experiences using voice-first design. She speaks and guest lectures on voice design, diversity, and the behavior science of decision-making all over the country, including SXSW, Yale, Columbia, Illinois Institute of Design, Northwestern, SpeechTEK and VOICE. Before Grand, she spent 8 years in content and voice design leading teams, building design programs where none existed, and teaching others to write within the persona voices she created.

Diana started her career as a junior talent agent for theatre and screen actors, while writing plays and magazine articles. She later moved into production with companies like Endgame Entertainment, Blue Man Group, and Animal Planet, doing everything from on-set producing to editing to logistics and budget management for multimillion-dollar productions.

Throughout her “day” career, Diana has continued to create scripted work. She is a produced playwright in NYC and her screenwriting work includes script doctoring for Showtime pilot, On the Lam. She is the co-creator/writer/producer of the 6-episode webseries, The Underlings.

Throughout all her work, Diana believes in creating stories and solutions representative of the diverse world we live in, and in questioning the outcomes of our creations. To read more about how she incorporates the ideas of humanity and AI within the tech community, you can hear her on the upcoming episode of Design for Voice podcast or check out her Medium article on conversational accessibility.
